RIP Bojangles and other ramblings.

My old laptop recently died. It was a Lenovo ThinkPad and was running Windows XP and Ubuntu. His name was Bojangles, and I had him for about 5 years before he completely refused to turn on.

Bojangles has been replaced but certainly not forgotten. My mother purchased a new Dell Inspiron 15 for me. He has been named Wolf Blitzer by my roommate and already there is a "situation" with him. I'm sort of an audiophile and I have collected a vast amount of mp3's over the years, all legally rest assured. Unfortunately, I must be an idiot when it comes to transferring music files to iTunes from my external hard drive. I remember that it even took me a few tries, several drinks and moaning sessions to transfer my files to my hard drive in the first place and then to make iTunes actually run from it. So I downloaded iTunes and after a few hours of frustration, I decided to try a new, more Windows friendly software, Songbird. I think I made the situation worse. In the fury of the moment, I uninstalled both software and deleted all of my songs. Fantastic. Note to self, no more software trial and error when hormonal. So I have to make a decision about which music player I want to use and then start my library collection afresh. Oh well, it's an excuse to purchase more CD's.

Oh, and so far, so not liking Windows 7. I miss my Ubuntu. I love the layout. I got super familiar with it, and I don't want to change. I could download it again, but Minecraft works on my new laptop which was the whole reason for downloading Linux in the first place. Sadly Netflix doesn't work on Linux, or iTunes, but since I'm not using that at the moment it shouldn't be a factor. Ugh, decisions, decisions.

My 1/4 year check up

Every year I make a resolution list. I know several choose one resolution to try to stick to and inevitably fail- I make a list where the number of items correlates to the year. Given that it's 2012, I have 12 items. Like last year I let my roommate make the last selection, last year's was more cowbell, that didn't happen.

2012
1. Lose weight- yes like everyone else in the world, this year I've actually stuck to it. I've lost 17 lbs thus far and about halfway to my goal
2. Save money- ha, fat chance
3. Stop eating out alone- not to make myself stop looking like a sad loner, this relates to the next couple of entries so that I may save money that I spend on food prepared on me plus tip
4. Shop cheaper/smarter- I've entered the dreaded coupon user "club" although I can't bring myself to Groupon.....yet....
5. Cook more meals in advance- that would work if my roommate and I weren't fatties
6. Fix car- I got the oil changed at least
7. Work on loans- go ahead and take more money from me
8. Clean out wardrobe- aka throw away or repair clothing with holes and are too big.
9. ____- this has been removed
10. Be less messy- Oh, I wrote that down?
11. Finish projects that I start- One of my biggest flaws. I have two watches in my purse that I have been carrying around for a year with hopes to change the batteries. I also need to find a dumping ground for all of the recycling I've collected. One day, I will get it done.
12. *Roommate Choice* Learn Greensleeves on the Lute. He wants me to great him at the door with a serenade. Highly unlikely.
